Meow

The Grey Catbird
meows.

He was a shy bird

until he found the grapes.

Now he comes up onto the deck without hesitation.

Another set of fabulous photos, Sherry! I haven't seen the Catbird. We do have the Mockingbird, which I love to watch snatch a raisin and fly away. :) They are real characters. I've put out fresh grapes, but no one here is interested in them, including my Mockingbird. :/ I do so enjoy watching the winged creatures. :)

Q,

Great photos of the Catbird. When I think of Catbirds I recall seeing bird banders with purple all over them. They caught them near poke berries and when one handles them guess what purple stuff gets all over you.

I've never seen a catbird before, Sherry; thank you for sharing these! I always think of Thurber's story of sitting in the "Catbird Seat"; I wasn't even sure there was such a bird:) You have such a variety of birds that come to visit you!

They've been visiting our gardens, too, and I've enjoyed observing them.

Dear Sherry

I have not heard of this bird before....catbird, I do not think I will forget it...

The photographs are beautiful......and you tempt him to come stay with you a while. The birds know they are safe in your care.......

He is lovely! Your garden is home to so many different birds. I haven't seen the Catbird ~ Thank you for sharing all your sweet bird friends.

These can be rather annoying birds too. That constant caw when one is doing homework can drive you insane.

We have a pair of catbirds nesting in or near our garden. I haven't found the nest yet but they have been active in the garden daily. Your shots are great. I am going to try putting grapes out for them.

It is always fun to see the bird behind such an interesting call- like the catbird.
