Baltimore Orioles

We have been listening for
the call of the Baltimore Orioles.

They arrived yesterday.

They found the grapes today.

I am thankful they remembered me.

The Peonies are beginning to bloom.

The Lupine are opening.

It is May.
The beautiful month of May.
The Baltimore Orioles have returned.

What fantastic photos of the Oriole. In the one he seems to be saying "where is my jelly? Beautiful flowers too. Lupine doens't seem to grow here. I always expect to see moose where I see lupine growing since the firsts time I ever saw a moose it was standing in a roadside eating lupine. Watch out for the moose.

I haven't seen one of those in years! What a treat! We have blue birds, house finches and even a couple of mockingbirds eating out of our feeders...along with several others! ♥

What a striking bird, Sherry, such lovely colouring. The photo with its beak wide open is beautiful, but of course they all are!

I used to grow Lupins and they were quite happy but suddenly they took a dislike to my garden and sadly, I haven't been able to grow them for some time :(

A lovely post, as always , it is always a pleasure to visit you :)

Beautiful! I saw the first oriole of the season today on my way to work, but have been hearing their calls for several days now. My jelly pots are set out waiting. Happy May! -Tammy

Sherry,

Saw Baltimore Orioles all winter at my customers grape jelly feeder. These guys are a great treat! Been enjoying the evenings here listening to the calls of Wood Thrushes and the aroma of honeysuckle.

oh my, orioles, peonies and lupins! You must be a month or more ahead of us. So lovely to see my future in your gorgeous post.

DEar Sherry....very beautiful photographs of the Oriole. He is very tropical looking. What area have they come from?

I feed grapes to the blackbirds now....they love them. Tku for making me aware.

Our temperatures are way below normal for this time of year. It reached 11C yesterday....52F. Way too cold for May. My gardens are very slow....no buds on the lupins yet and the peaony buds are very tiny. If we have an early autumn my gardening season will be very short.......

Glad to hear you are having fun in your garden.....

Hi Sherry, you are so lucky to have them, they are beautiful. A few years ago I found an oriole nest blown down in the front yard. Duh, I never knew they were nesting there.

Thanks for the reminder. I'll start putting out fruit to see if I can convince a pair to stay here.

That Oriole looks as though it's trying to gobble the grape whole! What a wonderful ruby peony - I can almost smell it!

Sooooo beautiful! You are so fortunate that the Orioles are at your house...I've never seen one although they do migrate through here. Maybe one day? :D Enjoy!

Sherry, I've never seen an Oriole in person - thank you for "capturing" its beauty. Your peony and lupine are beautiful too - my peony is just showing its first petal. Spring is so exciting!

Gorgeous pictures of the Orioles. I love the one where he's going after the grape. I used to watching the Baltimore Orioles when we lived in PA for 3 years; we don't have them in the piedmont of NC, although they do breed in the mountains. We have Orchard Orioles instead, a very fast-moving bird that's very hard to photograph!

I love your peony -- such a deep, rich shade -- and lupine too. So beautiful.
