Excellent photos!

My time with the hummingbirds should be coming to end in a few weeks. Funny thing this year with them, we I eat my lunch outside, they do a disappearing act.

Sherry, these are magnificent photos! I'm glad your birds aren't greedy. Laughing. I cannot believe the quality of your photography - it's so awesome.

I have to say dear Sherry the hummers look far more beautiful feeding from the flowers....just as nature intended.....I know we need to help them and that is why we put our feeders out. BUT feeding from the flowers is like a work of art......

It is hard for me to tell because of how little of the actual flower is in the photo, but is that a hibiscus?

Just great Sherry. I love these little birds. I tried to draw one this weekend. I would rather look at your pictures.

My computer is still kaput. It is at the shop. HOpefully they will get me back online soon. DB's computer is also kaput. It will have to be fixed too. I am writing at work. My boss doesn't appreciate my efforts here. Ha... I can't be on long so will try to catch up on some reading here.
Keep up the good works....

Dear Cathy,
The Hummingbirds stay around my backyard until October. Now is the time they are friendly. I think the babies are big enough to take care of themselves. The adults seem to be adding weight now for migration. The adults are also relaxing a bit! They have been working hard for the last couple of months.

Dear Cheryl,
My husband always likes the Hummers at the flowers the best too. We like seeing the Hummingbirds at the feeders but when they are content in the flowers I think I am the happiest. While on Sunday Safari last week we watched Hummingbirds in the woods. It was wonderful seeing them in their natural enviroment.
In my backyard I am able to get photographs because I can wait for them. The Hummers get used to me so as the season progressess they are less skittish.
I do hope to be a bit artistic with the photos...my artfilled way!
Thank you for your compliments I feel encouraged.

I love watching the hummingbirds, too, Sherry, but I cannot capture them in photos the way you do. These are exquisite! The feeders were empty yesterday and I couldn't refill them right away...I noticed for the first time the hummers going for my petunias. Cheryl's right: seeing them enjoy the flowers is especially wonderful.

Dear Scienceguy288,
The flowers are the blooms of the Butterfly Bush, Buddleia. Also known as Summer Lilac. I was reading an article this morning about the popularity of Buddleia in the butterfly garden and how it is non-native and can become invasive. I was going to plnat lots more and make a hedge but now I will seek out native species for my hedges.
Always learning!

Dear Saucy,
Thank you. Amazing birds and so fun to watch. I watched two males flash their ruby throats at each other...I laughed.
I have two feeders set up and the males think they are the owners of the feeders. The females pay no attention to the males now. The juveniles seem to get to the feeders most often.

Dear Zoe Ann Hinds,
I sit out with the Hummingbirds and they have gotten to know me. They are more concerned about the other Hummers than me. LOL
Thank you for the u-tube link. Very interesting how this photgrapher gets his pictures. I just sit in my steamer chair on my deck and snap away! I like natural light and will wait for "good" light!
Glad you enjoyed the pictures.

Dear Rose,
Watching the Hummingbirds is a great pastime. I feel so honoured whenever I see them. My neighbor has Trumpet vine and she watches the hummers go in and out of her vines. I bet that would be very fun. I know the Hummers eat bugs too.
I will miss them come November...now is the time to relax and enjoy them.

Just beautiful! You should be very proud of these shots. I love hummingbirds. They're my favourite bird.

Dear Wendy,
They are very fun birds. Not too skittish and full of joy! I think if I was to be a bird I would want to be the female Northern Cardinal. I seem to understand her the best. The Carolina Wren also speaks to me...the Swans teach me...oh I just love them all! LOL
