Cold and gray

It was so cold outside but I wanted to
take a few pretty pictures.

Just a few minutes outside
and I am good for the rest of the day!

Hi Q!

Here is another q and I wanted to stop by and say hello! :)

Such a variety of different kind of birds, WOW! Here in Finland we don't have so colorful birds at all. What bird is in the first picture?

Best wishes from Finland,

quu

I agree Sherry - even when it is cold outside we need a little "out door time" with our birds.

And pretty pictures you have here. Specially the Chickadee on a Chain.

These wonderful little birds bring smiles to my face, every time I see them.

Dear Quu,
Hello! Welcome to my world. How nice to meet you.
I am looking forward to visiting your journal and getting to know you and your world.
The first photo is a male Northern Cardinal. He is all puffed up trying to stay warm. In my backyard this winter a flock, 30-40 male and female, have come daily for seed.
I do have a nice variety of Winter birds that come for seed and nuts.
I am looking forward to a few Spring birds. Not that I do not love the Winter birds, I do. Just ready for some new subjects for photos and study. It won't be too long before the Orioles will return and close behind them are the Hummingbirds. If I am very lucky the Red Breasted Grosbeaks will remember the nice party we had last year and will return for a visit before moving on north. I think I am about ready for Spring migration!
Nice to meet you.
Sherry

Dear Deb,
We had a light dusting of snow over night. The gardens look as if powder sugar was sifted over them. It is too dark still for photos but I already plan on doing the bundle and getting outside. The effort is worth it.
I have a couple of photos I want to take. I hope the birds will work with me on my ideas for pretty pictures.

Good Morning Jeanne,
The first Robin! Spring is coming your way. Enjoy each minute.
Would be a tad early here. I had early spring last year that was frozen in April. I lost over 400 plants. I will wait this year.
I loved your post about the two horses. So moving.
I will pop over and see Robin and celebrate with you.
Love and light,
Sherry

Dear Lisa,
Thank you for the poem! It is charming! Chickadeedeedee....
I am enjoying getting to know you. I laugh and have fun with you. Please know you are a special friend. We have many shared interests. If we lived closer I bet we would be digging in the dirt together. I used to long for someone to share plants with. None of my friends garden. They also do not feed the birds or write poetry!
Thank you. I think I will print out your poem and put it in my pocket. I will need a smile later.
I love being a flower!

Thank you for the smiles.
Thank you for your care.
Across so many miles
from your gardens so fair.

I sense your warm embrace,
I hear your sacred song.
I see your gracious face,
We are friends-I belong.

Love and light,
Sherry

Dear Meggie,
Ahh.. the birds. Gifts from the gods! I am fascinated with wings.
Perhaps I once was a bird. I have been reading about the symbolism of the different birds. Their meaning to the ancients.
I understand. I have thought maybe next year I will do a "birds and their meaning" for me. A photo essay sort of thing. For me the birds are a constant source of delight and teaching.
Glad they bring joy to you too.
