Wee folk

I am reviewing my field guide.

I am looking for the Sheerie.
The land Sheerie can be found just about anyplace.
They appear normally right at twilight.

I also am looking for Bootes.
My March constellation.

It is known as the Herdsman.

At my house it is known as, "Bootes the Kite!"

I think you are having too much fun Sherry. The wee folk are getting restless no doubt.

Now you need to make a trip to Ireland to capture a few photos of those guys!~ Thanks for the smile!

And what is the name of the constellation shaped like a giant floating blonde wig with bees in it? Is that the "Apis Fabio" gracing the Western sky?

It is almost March, which for us is the first of Autumn. We have had such a wet Summer, it doesn't seem as if we have had any. Autumn is normally very beautiful here, with crisp warm days.
I wonder what it will be like this year??

Dear Lisa,
I collect field guides. I have all sorts of them. When I found this one I was tickled. Like many of my items, this is stored and comes out once a year. It is fun getting the March things out. Lots and lots of fun.
Hope you also are having fun.

Dear Tom,
I would love to go to Ireland!
I wish the plane ride was not so long. I do not sit still for hours at a time very well. I will have to watch Cooper's Hawk more and see how it is done.
Glad you smiled too.

Dear Housefrau,
You are referring to Coma Berenices.
It is a huge mass of hair floating in the western sky. Fun story connected with this constellation.
Seems as if Berinece, wife of Ptolemy III of Egypt, cut her long and flowing tresses and laid them on the floor of the temple. This was a "thank you" to the goddess for the safe return of her husband from a battle. Seems as if the hair was stolen! One of the astronomers of the day came to the rescue! He pointed to this star cluster and claimed the goddess had accepted Berinece's hair.
Much rejoicing and now we know this group of stars as Coma Berenices. Some people think it is the tuff of hair on the tail of Leo the Lion. I think "Apis Fabio" would work as well.
Astronomy once again saves the world!

Lovely Sherry....I am blessed with a vivid imagination and my husband often asks me "Where are you, away with the fairies again."

Dear Meggie,
I so hope things dry up a tad for you. It did seem like you had lots of rain all summer. Autumn and Spring are beautiful times of the year here too. I am looking for warmer days and you are looking for a little drying up. Hope we both get to be outside more!

Dear Cheryl,
I have a tendency to spend lots of time with the fairies too. Some of my best friends are wee folk.
