Marigolds will be part of the understorey for the Pines. I will plant them around the Spice bushes. It will take a few years for the Spice bushes to mature. The marigolds will also edge the vegetable garden as they have for the last thirty years. September is when I begin my seed saving for next year.
It is wonderful to visit again and see all the beauty in your garden through your camera lens ~ your photos as always are spectacular.
Your back...and will all your captivating photo's!! The orange in the marigold's really set's off the orange in the butterfly...great shot's!!
I dropped my camera while on vacation! Tomorrow I will take it in and see if the warrenty will replace it. I find I am having some trouble with it. In the drop I also broke a lens. That will have to be replaced. I am somewhat annoyed but these things happen. Glad I bought the replacement warrenty.
I have posted a few more photos of vacation on the Holiday blog. I have also begun to print a few for framimg. I am tring to get August decorations put up and the house cleaned but I keep going back to my photos!
I am happy to be home too. I had a wonderful time but there is no place like home.
I too liked the way the Tiger Swallowtail went with the marigolds. My favorite flower is one with a butterfly on it!
Sherry, who is butterfly dependant
"The marigolds will also edge the vegetable garden as they have for the last thirty years."
Such a lovely word picture.
I just love the colors that you were able to capture! Those bluish green coloring works perfectly with the blue in the swallow tail and the orange flowers work with the wings! Awww, perfect shots!
Marigolds are one of my favorite flowers. love them. xo nita
Sherry, glorious pictures, as usual. Marigolds are hardy, useful in gardens, I know - but they stink.
Butterflies don't seem to mind, though...
I just read your last posts and I am overwhelmed by your wonderful pictures of all the butterflies. It is a pleasure to see them.
Greetings from Switzerland. Barbara
Thank you! I could take a photo of the marigolds surrounding the veggie garden but it would be so tiny I do not think the marigolds would show up very well! I seem to go for the up close photos for Corner. I keep thinking I will learn more about landscape photography...maybe this winter I will have the time to do so.
Until then words will have to paint the landscape.
Thank you for seeing.
The Tiger Swallowtails seem to go with everything! I think they are rather large on the Marigolds but I like that! This stand of flowers makes easy nectaring for all sorts of butterflies. I always stop and watch the Swallowtails. The light was rather interesting too when I snapped these photos.
Marigolds are delights. They really say, "September" to me. They also are work horses in the gardens, food for the butterflies and wonderful for insect control.
I am sending you all sorts of blessings.
LOL!! I have never heard that marigolds stink! I rather like the musky, earthy smell.
Butterflies do like them and what is good for the butterflies is good for me.
I am a butterfly lover! Never can I see enough of them!
As I continue to plant native to my area I hope to see even more varities. There are over 400 different types that "could" come to my backyard. I have seen about 100 different types so i have room to grow!
I am looking forward to visiting your journal and seeing life in Switzerland through your eyes.
