I want to spend as much time as possible outside enjoying the butterflies. They are a joy to watch. We were in the shops in Quebec City, Canada, a few years ago. My husband found this red hat for me. It is the "Hat of the Month" for September! I wear it all Fall and Winter. My stone for September isAmber. I have a few pieces. Would like a few more. The scatter pins are fun to wear.
Amber is such a wonderful fossil resin of ancient conifers or pine trees. It is literally like looking into the past, especially in specimens that have an insect inclusion.
Amber becomes negatively electrically charged through friction, when rubbed with a wool cloth and will draw particles to it. It smells delightful when warmed. I love Amber, it is one of my favorites! It is very soft on the Mohs Scale of Mineral Hardness - somewhere between 2-3 (similar to a fingernail), so can be fairly easily scratched, but also easily polished too.
In folklore, Amber is considered a very healing and protective amulet. It is said to help with physical vitality, and warms the body. It is also said to be a manifesting, absorbing and transmuting resin. It is uplifting as well as calming and can bring the electrical system of the physical body back into balance. It is used for clarity and good luck.
Hi Sprite, Thank you for sharing so much about the qualities of Amber. I love it! Not only do I think it is beautiful but it speaks to me. Must be those old bugs captured in the resin. I also find when I wear it I am very calm. I am happy to know about clarity. Sometimes my mind gets all fuddled up. You, My Dear, are a treasure house of valuable information! Thank you. ~Q~
