Top Down Birding

We put the top down on the convertible
and took to the back roads.
The countryside by our son's house is filled with birds.

Many Dickcissels were on the wires.
These are migrating birds.
They winter in Mexico and Northern South America.
The Meadow Larks are year around residents.
They are birds of the open, grassy country.
The Scissor-tailed Flycatcher is a summertime resident.
They winter in Central and South America.

The Wild Turkey was once eliminated from Missouri due to over hunting and lack of habitat. Today the Wild Turkey has made a strong comeback.
It was nice to see the birds of the open areas.
