Surprise

Overnight the Surprise Lilies shot up.
Also known as Naked Ladies.
They have no foliage
at bloom time.
I know them as Lycoris.
I expect them in August.

The miniature Crepe Myrtles are starting to bloom.
They are my under growth for the French Lilacs.
My Perennial Hibiscus has opened.
I started these from seed taken from my Father's plants.
The birds planted Morning Glories where the green beans had been.
More blue flowers for my blue garden.
I will save seed.
Each morning the gardens are full of surprises.
The Sunflower garden has sprouted.
The Basil garden has sprouted.

I love the colour of your Morning Glory - the pale blue is amazing. Our Morning Glory are "heavenly blue" but read more purple :-}
Still waiting for the hibiscus to bloom - we planted it a few years ago as a 50th birthday gift for my husband - it bloomed for the first time last year (very exciting).

Hi Sherry - beautiful photos as usual. We have some Naked Ladies, too. I'll have to take a picture of one or two of them to share. I didn't realize that Surprise Lilies is another name for them. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Deb,
The birds planted these last year and I let them go to seed. I hope to save some seed this year and plant where I would like them too!
They are pretty. A tinge of "purple" is on the tips at full bloom.
My Father grew this Hibiscus in his yard. I was very pleased to be able to get some seed when we sold their house.
It is so nice you remembered your Husband's 50th with a Hibiscus. They have huge blooms!
It is very exciting when a treasured plant blooms. Part of our memory gardens.

Hi Mary C,
These Lilies go by many names.
They are pretty. Mine are blooming about two weeks early this year.
I keep thinking every year I will move them but come Fall I forget!
I would like to grow something else in the bed they are in now, something the butterflies would like!

Oh Sherry,
These are such beautiful flowers. I love the colors and stories of memory gardens. There seems to be so much thought that goes into gardening. A gardener must be thinking out years in the future for their vision to unfold. I love that!

Dear Sprite,
I think every garden changes as the gardener changes..
Mine have.
I know I plan a bed for five years to reach maturity.
Memory gardens are nice.
Special plants for special people or events.
Often a shade garden will become a sun garden or the other way around!
Keeping then up is the biggest job!

Seriously Sherry, have you considered creating some greetings cards with some of your images??? You REALLY should!

The pale blue cools me off on a hot day. How about you?

Lovely, Sherry!

Hi Jayne,
I have printed a few cards for friends and family. To print and sell I would need to take the photos to a printer. My ink is rather expensive. I bought an Epsom photo printer. It does a very nice job.
One of these days I will see about publishing a book. I need an agent!
I could sell a few photos, I have thousands.
Thank you for the compliment!
I did take to the camera.
It is so fun to walk around the yard and take pictures.

Dear Mary,
I too think the pale blue is cooling. I am working up a list of blue flowers and their bloom times. Trying to find a butterfly who likes them too! I would like to do an all blue native garden.
Goodbye lawn.....
