105.2 degrees in the shade

The Summer of '06 will be remembered. I watered and checked all the bird and critter watering spots. The zinnias are doing fine. Hope the mums make it through the heat.
Spent sunflowers are drying. I would like to use the petals.

Even in the house the sunflowers will turn towards the light.

I added a clear glass candle insert to my sunflower candle holder. I am saving the dropped pollen. It looks pretty on the dried sunflowers in my potpouri.

Two mornings ago I saw scat in the backyard. I was concerned. Last night my husband and I went for a twilight bicycle ride. We rode two blocks to Cave Springs, a nature center on the Sante Fe Trail. When we came into the drive we saw a Bobcat in the clearing. He turned and went back into the woods.
My, he was beautiful.

Hi Housefrau,

Knowing Bobcat was in the backyard is also a marvel. Could be we will not need to trap the Ground Hog after all. I have checked on bunnies. They are fine. Was not able to get a mouse count.
Deer tracts were in the vegetable garden.
With all the critters it is a wonder there is food for the humans.
Happy packing to you!
New house for you to Frau!
How very exciting.
Looking forward to your adventures.

Hi Sprite,
Excellent idea! Thank you. I will call tomorrow.
Daughter is concerned. She knows Bobcat would not hurt me yet still a wee bit close for her comfort I think.
Thanks for the suggestion.
