Baltimore Oriole

The male Baltimore Oriole
has been calling for his mate.
While he waits for her to arrive

he has been enjoying the orange slices, the nectar and the grape jelly!

His colour is brilliant. What a great picture.
I love the previous post of the bee and the butterfly on the phlox too. We are starting to see a variety of birds now as they make their way north.
Yesterday I had a friendly chickadee watch me from the cotoneaster, for some minutes as I walked around the garden. He allowed me to get within a few feet of him before he flew up to the maple tree above me, where he stayed until I went back into the house.

How I long for a Baltimore Oriole - My hometown bird.

A beautiful bird, full of color and pizzazz. You captured him well.

Thank you, Sherry!

Hi Jayne,
You have lots of birds at your house too! It is fun to see how well the birds are cared for. It takes lots of caring, backyard birdiers, to make sure the birds have food and water and shelter.
I have enjoyed your birds too.

Dear Sheila,
He IS brilliant!! His range is into Southern Canada, not sure if he would make it up to you. The Chick-a-dees are so cute! We are very fond of them too. When the birds return all things seem right.

Dear Mary,
I looked at the Baltimore Oriole's range map and I see he just misses you by a few miles! Maybe one will hear your longing and come for a orange slice on his way to the Northeast! He is very beautiful. I have yet to see a mate. It would be ever so nice if a pair could find a nesting spot near by and come for snacks. Last year we did have a family for a couple of weeks in May.
Today's photos were very incredible.
